Senegal Kickoff 2008

Senegal

With great efforts by Dr. Mark Wainberg from the McGill AIDS Centre, HIV[e]Education has been translated to French, and the first French speaking group completed the HIV[e]Education course in October 2008. The participants all came from the Centre Hospitalier National Universitaire de Fann in Dakar and were invited by Dr. Papa Salif Sow. This was also the first workshop organised by our new regional representative, Maaike Cotterink.

The workshop was held at Cesag center in Dakar and we were very pleased to welcome so many presenters from Senegal. We received very useful feedback from our participants. One of the points raised was the fact that Health[e]Foundation trains doctors, nurses and counselors during the same training. It is our profound belief that one needs to work together as a team when treating people living with HIV/AIDS.  It is important to realize what everybody in the team knows and can contribute for the most effective teamwork and positive results.

In April 2009 the second group in Senegal began training with the French version of the HIV[e]Education program.
