Did you recently arrive in the Netherlands and do you have a social or medical background?
We have a free e-learning course for you!

Aim of the course

Many refugees arrived and asked for asylum in the Netherlands. The newcomers experienced health risks from the country of origin and during the voyage to the Netherlands. The effects of conflict and displacement on mental health and psychosocial well-being are profound. Therefore it is important to recognize, detect and treat (mental) health problems early, to improve the chances of immigrants in participating in the labor market and to foster the new language. A part of the newcomers experiences barriers to access Dutch healthcare due to lack of knowledge concerning the system or differences in health practice and culture.

Therefore this course aims to increase your knowledge about:

  • the Dutch healthcare to promote your reintegration as a healthcare worker.
  • health risks among refugees and how these are addressed in Dutch healthcare. To gain knowledge for yourself and your family and advise other newcomers where help and care is offered in the Netherlands.

The e-learning

Health[e]Refugees is an e-learning course including 5 modules, guidelines and references, video’s and test questions. The key topics of the course are:
