The Treat’n Care[e]Education course, developed in 2012, is a more concise version of the HIV[e]Education course. The course enables healthcare workers to effectively “Treat and Care” for patients with HIV/AIDS. The course consists of 16 modules, all written by renowned experts in the field.
The modules focus on initiation of antiretroviral therapy; prevention and treatment of opportunistic infections; and HIV/TB co-infection. In addition to the clinical modules, there are modules on prevention, counseling and testing, adherence support and human rights. In each country, a local expert is asked to provide a country-specific epidemiology module. This informs participants about the local HIV/AIDS epidemic; specific prevention measures; and testing and therapy guidelines. Country-specific guidelines are added and clinical cases are written with the assistance of local clinicians.

"The two-day follow-up workshop was very educational and sharpened our skills. I hope more people can do the course, which will give them skills and knowledge to treat their clients better.''
