How we work / Introduction
We educate people from different countries. They come from different cultures and have different backgrounds, ages, health issues and questions. Our participants include adolescents, pregnant mothers, community workers, medical doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.
We use several methods to deliver our services, so that we can tailor the course or project to the specific needs of the target group and their situation. A course or project can consist of several modules that cover a range of topics and use different learning approaches. Our e-learning platform and m-health solutions enable us to scale-up our impact and reach (almost) everyone.
Collaboration and partnerships
We never work alone when developing and implementing courses and services. Health[e]Foundation has a global network of experts who write and update the content of the modules. To enhance sustainability and maintain local support, Health[e]Foundation forms cooperative partnerships with local, well-established organizations and stakeholders in countries where it works. The e-learning platform of Health[e]Foundation enables participants to study whenever they want and wherever they are.
Health[e]Foundation uses the blended training model to train groups. A blended learning program consists of a training period, followed by certification, and continuous medical education through annual updates of the course content.
Participants can study the course online via internet, or offline through their USB stick or tablet. The distance learning part ensures that participants can study at their own pace and time.

Health[e]Foundation offers online group training. A group of participants receive an invitation that includes the group’s code. Each participant uses the code to register via our website for a personal online account.
After registration, participants receive access to a specific e-learning course and have a fixed self-study period to complete the course modules. Every course consists of self-study modules written by renowned experts in the field. Each module starts with a pre-test and ends with a post-test in order to evaluate the participants’ learning curve. When applicable, a course includes a module on local epidemiology, local clinical cases and videos. References, a glossary and copies of international and national guidelines are also available as part of the course. Distance learning ensures that participants can study at their own pace and time. The self-study period is followed by certification. Continuous medical education is provided through annual updates of the course content. Participants receive distant learning support. They are encouraged to interact with their peers through the participant portal, and to seek e-tutor support through their personalized e-learning accounts.
Depending on the needs of the training group, webinars can be added during the self-study period to enhance motivation and interactions between participants.

Health[e]Foundation organizes workshops to train groups, transfer knowledge, practice skills, enhance discussions and stimulate networking. A workshop can be a part of a blended learning group training or can be organized as a stand-alone event.
All workshops are designed to be as interactive as possible, through interactive presentations, electronic quizzes, ice-breakers and discussions. Local experts give guest lectures to ensure that the information is understood in the local context and to facilitate networking.
Health[e]Foundation offers m-health services to educate, and support, communities about maternal health and antenatal care. M-health is an innovative health technology: information is sent to the individual’s mobile device (phone, tablet). Mobile technology is a promising way of caring for people who live in the most hard to reach areas.
