About us and what we do

Health[e]Foundation is a Dutch not-for-profit organization. Health[e]Foundation was founded in 2003 by Prof. Dr. Fransje van der Waals and is based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. It was established with the conviction that accurate and state-of-the-art information is essential for healthcare workers worldwide. Health[e]Foundation has taken up the challenge to provide all healthcare workers with access to this crucial information, particularly in parts of the world that are most deprived of resources.  Read more

We, Health[e]Foundation, like to be transparent and share our work and achievements with you. You can read about everything we do and the impact we make in our annual reports.

Health[e]Foundation uses the blended training model to train groups, in which distance learning is combined with face-to-face workshops. A blended learning program consists of a training period, followed by certification, and continuous medical education through annual updates of the course content. Usually, we start with a kick-off workshop, followed by a self-study period, including pre- and post-tests, and, then, a follow-up workshop. The number of workshops can be adjusted, depending on the needs of the training group. Participants receive distant learning support: they are encouraged to interact with their peers through the participant portal and to seek e-tutor support through their personalized e-learning accounts. Read more

Health[e]Foundation offers m-health services to educate, and support, communities about maternal health and antenatal care. M-health is an innovative health technology in which information is sent to the individual’s mobile device (phone, tablet). Mobile technology is a promising way of caring for people who live in the most hard to reach areas. Have a look at our LUCY and MyHealth@Hand m-health solutions for more information on how and where we provide our m-health services. Read more

There is a learning management system in place to monitor your progress. Before you start a module, you will do a pre-test. You can only complete this pre-test once. This result gives us an idea of your base level of understanding of the study topic. After you have worked through the module, you will do a post-test. You can take the post-test as many times as you wish. However, we will only take into account the highest score that you obtain in the post-test. During blended-learning courses that include face-to-face workshops as well as online self-learning, clinical cases and verified scales such as the Aids Attitude Scale, we gather further information about your progress.
