The Refugee Care[e]Education course will mainly concentrate on the mental health problems refugees are facing. On the 20th of September Health[e]foundation participated with 50 runners in the Damloop by Night! It was the first Damloop by Night ever and it turned out to be a spectacular event! The streets were decorated with lights and lanterns, there was live music and 10.000 people were running through the streets of Zaandam wearing bright neon shirts!

On March 20th and 21st, two kick-off workshops were organized for doctors and nurses from all over Rwanda. The training took place in the capital Kigali and announced the start of the e-learning courses HIV[e]Education and Treat ‘n Care[e]Education. This training was organized in collaboration with The Faculty of Medicine of the National University of Rwanda (NUR). What caught the eye during the workshops was the plentitude of computers and smartphones in the room.

Indonesia. Nearly hundred participant were divided into two groups to ensure
active involvement in an interactive workshop.

ICS (International Child Support) 12th October 2011. The purpose of the meeting was to introduce the program for future
participants to pilot Community[e]Education program. Participants, altogether
36, with various backgrounds gathered
at the Ratchathani University to discuss how they could to use the program in
and out of classroom settings.

The closing workshop the
last days of September in Ho Chi Minh City was over subscribed. Many more
people wanted to participate in the workshop than the number of people that
started June 17. We knew participants were all doing the course very well and
finished it already long before the beginning of the workshop, but that it was
also so popular by word of mouth was good news!

We organized the closing
workshop for the fifth year students of the Universidade Catholica de
Mocambique in Beira the first days of September. It was a full room of 40 enthusiastic students. They just started their
first rotation in the clinic most at internal medicine, pediatrics and surgery.
They saw already many HIV+ patients, many adults and children in the latter
stages of AIDS.

The scientific programme of the 6th IAS Conference
on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention aims to provide new insights into
HIV disease development, biomedical prevention, clinical care that can lead to

(UCM) in May. Just before entering their clinical internship in the hospital. This is the fifth year we

In December we returned to Tanzania for the follow-up workshops.

Three closing workshops and one kickoff training in Cambodia.

Once again, Health[e]Foundation participates in the annual Dam tot Damloop in Amsterdam, which takes place on the 22nd of September 2013. Last year, we had 20 motivated runners who put on their running shoes for the organisation, this year we raise the stakes by running with 30 people more. Hence, together with a total of 50 runners.

On November 7th Health[e]Foundation held its third annual charity the Health[e]vent at the Hilton
Hotel in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. Once again, it proved to be a great success, altogether the income was €90.000!

During october 2012 our first Community[e]Education kick off workshop took place as part of a pilot project in Samrong, Cambodia. A group of 25 teachers from 7 different schools in Samrong participated enthusiastically in our three day workshop.

Health[e]Foundations e-learning program
Community[e]Education was piloted in Sri Saket Rajabhat
University, North-East Thailand on 27-28 January. A two day workshop was organized the
program was funded by the International Child Support (ICS).

continue our work with the new and current members Mr Frank Ex and professors
Elly Katabira, Joep Lange and Marcel Levi. New plans are made and follow up
meetings will be organized soon.

The Health[e]vent 2011 proved again that a charity event does not have to be an affair with elderly millionaires socializing with like-minded around large expensive tables. The concept of the network challengeis that young entrepreneurs fight for the title ‘networker of the year’.
They do this by gathering the best auction items that are normally not for sale.
With a combination of activities and articles made available by people within
their network they come with irresistible items.

From all areas around Rwanda, even from very remote areas in Rwanda healthcare workers participated
in the HIV[e]Education follow-up workshop. In June all of them joined the
kickoff and now joined again for the interactive follow-up workshop!

The 6th years
medical students are finishing up their rounds of internships and are ready to
go to the districts. Many went already to for some weeks to work in the
district as an intern. All but the four that
were in the district were early awaiting us already for the mentor training eager and curious what
would await them.

Health[e]Foundation has developed in collaboration with NSPOH
(Netherlands School of Public & Occupational Health) a new e-course
“Occupational Health[e]Education” !The e-course is based on “Basic Occupational
Health Services, a basic guideline” written by Jorma Rantanen and Suvi Lehtinen
from Finland (2007). The primary aim of the new e-course is to teach
occupational health to non-specialists on national and global level.

Third workshop of the
HIV[e]Education was held in Manado, Indonesia, in June 2011. After 3 months
self-learning period the healthcare workers got together to follow great
presentations of local experts. One of the presenters Dr. Agung, is a familiar
person to all health care workers of manado, but especially to the participants
from the kick off training in March 2011.

The first e-learning workshop in the Hospital for
Tropical Diseases was very successful pilot. The director of the Hospital Dr
Nguyen Van Vinh Chau welcomed the group or participants and facilitators. He showed
in his inspiring introduction speech the wide range of inventive reactions of
the Hospital during recent disease outbreaks in Southern Vietnam from typhoid
fevers to Avian Flue.

On the 17th and 18th May,
42 healthcare workers form Yaoundé successfully completed the
HIV[e]Education training course. All participants finished all e-learning
modules with excellent scores, and all but one (due to illness) attended the

First scientific writing module now
available to all!

Society (IAS), which is currently the world’s leading independent association
of HIV professionals. The launch of the new module on how to write and submit a
conference abstract marks the initial joint effort between IAS and Health[e]Foundation.

November 3rd Health[e]Foundation held its first charity event at the Hilton
Hotel in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. And what an event it was.... over a
€100.000 was raised. The charity was an event in itself, where three
networkers competed to raise most money.

October 22nd almost 100 Indonesian participants from North-Sulawesi started
HIV[e]Education. This new training was organized together with the Nederland-Batam
Foundation (NEBA). The local representatives Vie and Jaco organized a great kickoff with the
local organizing committee. NEBA is a long time partner that aims
like us to improve the medical and
social care in Indonesia. We are looking forward to training another 100
participants in March.
